The Barrois area preserves and enthusiastically relives the heritage inherited from the golden age of the Duchy of Lorraine and Bar: the Renaissance. Bar-le-Duc, the former capital of the duchy, and its Upper Town, listed as a “Town of Art and History” show this twice over, with their exceptional architecture: 16th-century façades, Palais de Justice (Courts), Saint-Etienne Church, Place Saint-Pierre. Every year, the “Festival RenaissanceS” is held there.
