- A 15-min drive from Bar-le-Duc, less than 1 hr from Nancy and 1 hr 30 mins from Rheims, the gîte du Martin Pêcheur (gîte de France, 3 épis) nestles in the heart of the wooded estate of the GODINOT family, whose history is linked to that of the ancient ironmasters of Haironville. Modern, spacious and light, and accommodating parties of between 4 and 8 people, it is extremely well appointed. Large terrace with garden furniture on the banks of the Saulx, with view over its outbuildings, 3.5 hectares of meadow and the 19th-century mansion.

- Exploring Haironville, former village of the duchy of Barrois, characterised by its listed châteaux: the Château Latour, the Château de la Forge, and the Renaissance Château de La Varenne. Also, don’t forget the Saint-Rémy church (1833), and the bridge with its twelve arches, built in 1618. In the grounds, 1 km of private riverbank fishing reserved for guests (licence required, obtainable on-site). Nearby, 18-hole golf course at Combles-en-Barrois, equestrian clubs, parks and gardens, water sports on the Der lake, cycle rides in the Saulx valley...

- Exceptional spot where the countryside and the Fario trout in the river Saulx meet up, and the lambs and horses surrounding the gîte sometimes make a thought-provoking naive tableau.
