To find the location of the grave of a soldier killed at Verdun:

Contact the Service des Sépultures Militaires de Verdun (Verdun Military Cemeteries Department) on 00 33 (0)3 29 86 02 96, with the surname, forenames, regiment and date of death of the soldier if available.
 

To find out if a soldier fought at Verdun:

Every soldier had a military service record book. Contact the Département Archives in the Département where the soldier lived at the time of enlistment, and request the register of regimental numbers R. The soldier’s records will reveal whether or not he fought at Verdun. With the regimental number, the Verdun Mémorial can find the sectors and dates where the soldiers fought.
 

To know whether a soldier received the Verdun medal:

The list of those awarded the Verdun medal can be consulted at the Livre d’Or at the Monument de la Victoire (Victory Monument) in Verdun..
