Presentation :
Constructed between 1598 and 1610 on a small promontory in Montbras, this magnificent Italian Renaissance château, listed as a historic monument and jewel of the Lorraine architectural heritage, is less than 50 km south-west of Nancy, 10 km from Domrémy-la-Pucelle and Vaucouleurs, where the memory of Joan of Arc is still very much alive, and around 25 km from Grand/Gzanu, the prestigious thermal site of the Roman empire. The château dominates the wide, sweeping valley of the river Meuse. You will stand spellbound in front of these architectural treasures. Every room has all mod cons, yet retains the character of a residence taken out of a history book.
Activities :
Walk or cycle through the superb countryside criss-crossed by the Meuse. Learn the story of Joan of Arc in the Vaucouleurs museum and at Domrémy-la-Pucelle. Visit the arts and crafts of the Traveron mill at Goussaincourt and at Vannes-le-Châtel (Cristal Daum). And, also not far away, visit Bar-le-Duc, a unique city of Lorraine art and history, with its Renaissance quarter, Verdun and its battlefields from the 1914-1918 war, Nancy with its superb Stanislas square, the Vosges thermal stations at Vittel, Contrexéville…
Specialties :
The chef recommends his fricassée of pig’s trotters and snails, his fillet of Allis char with peanut cream, and a good many other dishes, each one more delicious than the last.
Our favorites :
A fairy tale come true! Lead the château life and become Monsieur le Comte and Madame la Comtesse, for a weekend... or longer, if you feel like it! You are very welcome!
